Take a Stress & Burnout Test

Do you feel mentally drained after managing work, responsibilities, relationships, or everyday demands? Have you noticed that you are finding it harder to switch off, stay focused, or feel refreshed even after taking time to rest? Stress is a natural response to demanding situations. When pressure continues for a long time without enough recovery, it can contribute to emotional exhaustion, reduced motivation, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and changes in sleep.

info This self-screening is designed to help you reflect on how ongoing stress and exhaustion may be affecting your everyday wellbeing.

Before You Begin

Think about how you have been feeling during the past few weeks, particularly in relation to your usual responsibilities and routine. Choose the answer that best describes your recent experience.

Understanding Your Stress & Burnout Screening

Stress and burnout are related, but they are not the same thing. Stress can occur when the demands placed on you feel greater than the resources or time you have available. Burnout is associated with prolonged workplace-related stress and is characterised by exhaustion, increased mental distance or cynicism towards one's job, and reduced professional efficacy. This screening focuses on how ongoing pressure and exhaustion may be affecting your everyday functioning.

1

What Does It Explore?

Emotional Exhaustion: Whether you regularly feel mentally or emotionally drained by ongoing demands. Mental Distance: Whether you have become unusually detached, negative, frustrated, or disconnected from responsibilities. Concentration and Motivation: Whether prolonged pressure is affecting your ability to focus, organise tasks, or remain engaged. Everyday Functioning: Whether stress and exhaustion are influencing sleep, relationships, work, studies, or personal responsibilities.

2

What Does Your Result Mean?

A screening result provides a snapshot of the experiences you have reported. It does not diagnose burnout. The World Health Organization describes burnout specifically as an occupational phenomenon resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed. It is not classified as a medical condition.

When Can Professional Support Help?

Consider speaking with a mental health professional if ongoing pressure or exhaustion is: affecting your ability to work or study, interfering with sleep, changing your relationships, reducing your motivation, making everyday responsibilities difficult, or continuing even after periods of rest. A professional assessment can also explore whether anxiety, depression, sleep difficulties, or another concern may be contributing to what you are experiencing.

Stress Does Not Have to Be Ignored

Recognising that you are struggling with prolonged pressure is not a sign of weakness. Understanding the factors affecting your wellbeing can help you make informed decisions about the support you may need.
